Clairmont is known for its mature tree canopy, with oaks and pines shading many roofs for most of the day. Shade feels great in a Texas summer, but it keeps shingles damp, grows moss and algae, and drops a steady rain of leaves, twigs, and limbs. Damp shingles wear faster, and moss roots work under the surface to lift tabs and trap more moisture.
Our Clairmont approach starts with clearing and cleaning, because you cannot fix what is buried. Then we treat the moss, repair lifted and damaged shingles, clear the valleys, and seal flashing that shade moisture has corroded. We will also flag overhanging limbs worth trimming to protect the repair. As a rule of thumb, clearing valleys twice a year prevents most of the leaks we see in Clairmont, and we can handle it during any service visit.
